There has been much debate over the way funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) is allocated.

In its response to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport’s Review of Museums in England, the Museums Association (MA) called for HLF money to be redirected from the construction of new standalone museum projects to existing museums, galleries and heritage sites.
