The second Welsh Museums Festival is to launch on 24 October and will include over 100 events and exhibitions across Wales, including sleepovers, talks, walks, hunts, handling sessions, archaeologist digs, re-enactments, dressing up, tea parties and Halloween-themed activities.

This year’s programme will also include night openings as part of Museums at Night, and the launch of a new exhibition at Powysland Museum entitled Stuffed, Picked and Pinned – 50 Wonders of Nature, showcasing natural history exhibits from museums across the country.

Sharon Heal, the director of the Museums Association (MA), said: "The MA is proud to be supporting the Welsh Museums Festival.

“It's fantastic to see museums in Wales pulling together to offer a range of engaging experiences to the public.

“In my experience Welsh museums are well connected to their communities and this is a great opportunity for them to deepen that connection and reach new audiences."

The inaugural Welsh Museums Festival launched last year at the Museums Association's Annual Conference and Exhibition 2014 in Cardiff.
