The Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded a £149,700 development grant to the Snowdonia National Park Authority (SNPA) to progress plans to create a museum and interpretation centre dedicated to the Welsh-language poet Hedd Wyn on the site of his former home.
The money will fund an audience development officer and project manager, as well as covering the cost of business and conservation management plans, architectural work and surveys, and museum interpretation development.
The development phase is expected to last about 14 months, after which a second-round application for £2.7m to complete the project will be submitted.
Hedd Wyn’s farmhouse, farmland and collections were purchased in March, following grants of £350,423 from the National Heritage Memorial Fund and £388,000 from the Welsh government.
