It was with some disappointment to read Geraldine Kendall’s article that, in the past 18 years, the Heritage Lottery Fund invested only about 5% (£258m) of its grants to culture and memories. The 95% (£4,764m) went mainly to historic buildings, monuments, museums, et al.
A further calculation would show that, overall, ethnic minority organisations benefit mainly under culture and memories and received perhaps less than 1% of total grants over the past 18 years.
This does not seem fair or reasonable to me, and deserves an explanation of the disparity in a future edition of the journal.
