The former Commonwealth Institute in west London has emerged as the front-runner for the relocation of the Design Museum.
The museum has been looking to move from Shad Thames for some time and has considered the Victoria and Albert Museum (see link below) and a site near Tate Modern.
A Design Museum spokesman said it was in talks with the developer of the Commonwealth Institute site, Chelsfield Partners, but it is also looking elsewhere.
"While the Commonwealth Institute opportunity is more definite than other sites, we are ruling nothing out," said the spokesman.
