From 1 December, Museums Journal's online news will be updated weekly, giving Museums Association (MA) members and magazine subscribers access to breaking news from the cultural world.

Sharon Heal, Museums Journal's editor, said: "We know from research that our readers look to Museums Journal for news about what's happening in the sector. The new website will enable us to provide regular news online, as well as updates to existing stories."

The move comes as the MA relaunches its website with a cleaner design featuring more intuitive navigation, colour-coded sections and bold photography. The MA's web editor, Patrick Steel, said there would be new opportunities for members to interact with each other.

"The redesign puts the user first, with a range of new features including blogs and comments on selected articles," he said.
