MLA offers free training
The Museums, Libraries and Archives Council is offering people working in museums several free training opportunities focusing on literacy and literature. The events, which are supported by the Strategic Commissioning Workforce Skills programme, will take place over the next five months.

Endowment report
British Museum director Neil MacGregor (pictured above) has been commissioned by culture secretary Jeremy Hunt to prepare a report on the feasibility of developing endowments. The report, which is to be delivered this month, is part of a strategy to encourage philanthropic giving. Hunt said he did not expect endowments to generate significant revenue in the short term, although they could pay off in the long term.
Culture Grid site unveiled
The Collections Trust has launched the Culture Grid website, which features more than a million objects from UK collections. The site allows users to access information about objects in museums, galleries, libraries and archives.

Culture Forum meets
Arts and Business and the National Campaign for the Arts have jointly set up the Culture Forum to connect leading cultural minds to government. The first two meetings focused on the public funding crisis for culture in England and earned income. The final meeting, at the end of the month, will look at the private sector.
