International survey starts
Study will promote work of national museums
The National Museum Directors’ Conference (NMDC) is working on a new survey that will promote its members’ international work to a range of government departments.
The project aims to understand what museums are doing and highlight different approaches to working internationally. This might be loans and touring exhibitions or joint research and conservation projects.
Suzie Tucker, projects and policy officer at the NMDC, said the findings would also be used to promote museums to government departments beyond the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
“The research will help museums learn from each other, look at areas for possible collaboration and promote best practice by highlighting successful projects,” she added.
