The latest moves and appointments in the museum sector

Evelyn Welch has been appointed as the new chair of the trustees of Dulwich Picture Gallery in London.

David Linley has been announced as a patron of Leighton House Museum and 18 Stafford Terrace in London. He is also the honorary chairman for Christie’s auction house in Europe, the Middle East, Russia and India.

The director of the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) in London, Gregor Muir, has stepped down. Stefan Kalmár replaces Muir this month, having been the head of the Manhattan-based Artists Space since 2009.

Kate Brindley leaves her role as director of the Arnolfini gallery in Bristol in January 2017 to begin as the director of collections and exhibitions at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire. The Arnolfini’s trustees have appointed the current director of audience engagement Helen Davies as interim chief executive officer.

The prime minister has extended the term of appointment for Imperial War Museum trustee Dame Judith Mayhew Jonas until 11 November 2017.

Laura Kidner has left her post as a gallery officer for the Otter Gallery at the University of Chichester and begun her role as the senior museum officer at Christ’s Hospital School Museum in West Sussex.

Arts Council England has announced new appointments to three of the five Area Councils. The new South West Area councillors are: Mark Powell, David Dixon, Mike Bell, Lise Noakes, and Lawrence Williams. Jaswinder Singh has been reappointed until 2019. The three new London Area councillors are: Shezad Dawood, Justine Simons, and Angie Bual. The new North Area councillor is Syima Aslam.
