Bruce Boucher has been appointed the director of Sir John Soane’s Museum in London. Boucher, who is currently the director of the Fralin Museum of Art University of Virginia, will take up the post in May.
Lakeland Arts has appointed two new members of staff. Meredith Greiling has joined as the curator of Windermere Jetty and Jennie Pitceathly will be the head of learning. Greiling was previously the curator of maritime history at Aberdeen Maritime Museum and Pitceathly was the manager of Cumbria Museum Consortium.
Baroness Elizabeth Kay Andrews has been appointed a trustee and the chair of the committee for Wales for the National Heritage Memorial Fund/Heritage Lottery Fund for three years. She was the chair of English Heritage from 2009-13.
Sophie Smith is now the museum manager at the West House and Heath Robinson Museum Trust. Smith will help organise the opening of the new Heath Robinson Museum in Pinner, scheduled for the summer. She was previously the assistant curator at the Farnham Museum, Surrey.
Robert Black and Patrick Plant have been reappointed as board members of the British Library, both for a second term of four years. Black is a public interest member on the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Plant is a partner consultant with the law firm Linklaters.
Culture secretary John Whittingdale has appointed Carole Souter as a trustee of Historic Royal Palaces, for three years, starting on 1 May. Souter steps down as the chief executive of the Heritage Lottery Fund at the end of this month.
