Interpretation officer, Monastery to Museum 900 Project, Norton Priory, Runcorn, Cheshire

What attracted you to this post?

I couldn’t miss the chance to be part of a major new project.

What does the job entail, day to day?

I’m interpreting the collection, which spans 900 years of the site’s history, including monastic ruins and a Georgian walled garden. I’m also working alongside contractors to create the new museum.

What’s been the most interesting part of the job so far?

No two days are the same. One day it could be filming a stone mason, the next it could be working with skeletons to explore stories of people buried at the site.

Other posts held I was an archaeologist, then a curator. For the past 13 years I was an education officer.
