The Charles Dickens Museum, London, has appointed Cindy Sughrue as its new director. She replaces Robert Moye, who has become the project development director for 19 Princelet Street in Spitalfields, London.
Tony Sweeney is the new director of Wakehurst, the botanic gardens in West Sussex managed by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Sweeney was most recently the director of the Australian Centre for the Moving Image in Melbourne.

Museums Galleries Scotland appointed Jacqueline Hay as its head of strategic marketing, a new role at the national development body for Scotland’s museums and galleries. Hay’s previous roles include marketing planning manager at Velux.
Maurice Davies has joined the Royal Academy (RA) of Arts, London, as its head of collections. Davies, a former head of policy and communication at the Museums Association, began work at the RA last month.
James Peto has been appointed the head of public Programmes at Wellcome Collection. He has been at the museum since it opened in 2007. Peto takes over from Ken Arnold, who will become the creative director at the Wellcome Trust, the global health foundation that runs Wellcome Collection.
Samuel Rowlands, Arts Council England’s accreditation manager since 2008, will become the organisation’s relationship manager, museums, in south-west England this month.
