“Scotland Creates is a project in which the National Museum of Scotland has worked with four other museums and volunteers to programme exhibitions and support things like events, images and online material.
I took pictures of the McLean Art Gallery and Museum collection of Clyde Pottery. Photographer Iona Shepherd taught me how to light and handle objects and how to position the camera.
A memorable event was the two-day workshop at the national museum where we learned how to use the Morfo app to animate objects.
I enjoyed meeting other museum volunteers, too. We interviewed each other about the things we like about museums, but also the sorts of things that put us off.
I also worked on the viral film that we produced for the McLean Gallery. I did animations of some of the museum exhibits talking directly to the camera.
I’ve got a learning disability called dyspraxia. Enable Scotland helps me find work as does the James Watt College which I attend.
I’d like to work in the media, photography and the arts. There was a journalist from STV Online at the Scotland Creates opening so I gave her my CV – fingers crossed!”
