“I started volunteering at the Scottish Fisheries Museum, – based in a collection of historic buildings on the harbour of a small fishing port in Anstruther in Fife – as part of my school placement scheme when I was 15, three years ago.
I have always taken a great interest in the museum as the history of fishing and my own family history are intrinsically linked.
My great-great-grandfather’s certificate for bravery in the first world war from the king of Serbia hangs in the steam gallery.
I developed three local studies workshops in conjunction with the local high school and won the regional Volunteers for Museum Learning award for Scotland, run by the Marsh Christian Trust in conjunction with the British Museum.
Under the name of stage name of Lidh, I have also been very busy building my career in music and have released two EPs and played gigs all over the country.
Now I’m a musician and also a first-year history undergraduate at the University of St Andrews.”
Lidh’s new EP, Rockpool Hospital, is available from www.lidhmusic.com/shop.
