Museums are among 31 organisations benefiting from new project funding from the Welsh Government.
The £5.28m package is designed to improve access to culture, protect collections and modernise facilities for communities.
The funding, which also includes money for archives and libraries, has been given to a range of different organisations, from large local authority services to small independent and community-run museums. Up to £500,000 was made available for the each project.
Cabinet Minister for Culture and Sport, Heledd Fychan, who made the announcement on a visit to Newport Library, said: "Museums, libraries and archives are at the heart of our communities across Wales. These are places where people connect with our culture and history, where children discover a love of reading, and where older people share their memories.
“They are places everyone should feel welcome,” she continued. “This investment will make a real difference, protecting vital collections, improving access and ensuring our cultural spaces are fit for the future.”
Museums that have been funded include Holyhead Maritime Museum in Anglesey; Penmaenmawr Museum on the north Wales coast; Pembroke Dock Heritage Centre; Egypt Centre in Swansea; Swansea Museum; and the Firing Line Museum in Cardiff.

Museums Association director Sharon Heal said:“We are delighted that the Welsh Government has announced this funding boost for museums.
“We particularly welcome the focus on safeguarding collections, improving facilities and access to culture, and the inclusion of small, independent and community-run organisations among the recipients. These priorities are central to the Museums Association’s manifesto for museums in Wales, which calls for increased strategic public investment in culture.”
