The University of Leicester’s Research Centre for Museums and Galleries (RCMG) will host an event with culture sector experts to mark Trans Day of Visibility on 31 March 2026.

Bringing together museum, gallery and heritage leaders, the event will highlight the role cultural and arts organisations can play in advancing trans inclusion.

The event will premiere the Museum of Transology’s new digital platform with over 1,000 community objects displayed online, as well as celebrating forthcoming trans-inclusive exhibitions, public programmes and examples of leading practice across the cultural sector.

It will also share practical resources and tools for inclusion that are being co-produced with a partnership of museums, galleries and heritage organisations across the UK.

The event will be hosted by Sabah Choudrey, author of Supporting Trans People of Colour: How To Make Your Practice Inclusive.

The event will be held online and tickets are free.

Through the Trans-Inclusive Culture programme led by the RCMG, a partnership of cultural organisations is working to advance trans inclusion across the UK with support from Art Fund and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).

To mark the event and celebrate Trans Day of Visibility, the university will light up the Attenborough Tower – the tallest building on its campus – in the colours of the trans pride flag.
