The Story Museum in Oxford has announced the appointment of Conrad Bodman as its new CEO following an extensive recruitment process.

Bodman is currently the head of cultural programmes at the British Library and will take up his new role at the end of August. He succeeds Caroline Jones, who is stepping down after six years as the museum’s co-director and CEO.

A statement from the museum said Bodman had “an impressive track record of delivering innovative and engaging cultural exhibitions and events”.

The museum’s chair of trustees, John Palmer, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Conrad as the new CEO of the Story Museum. His leadership, vision, and exceptional experience in cultural programming make him uniquely suited to guide the museum through its next exciting phase.

“We thank Caroline Jones for her outstanding leadership and are confident that Conrad will successfully build upon her legacy.”

Bodman said: “I am delighted to join the Story Museum as its new CEO. The museum recognises the power of stories to change people’s lives as well as providing engaging experiences for children, families and primary schools. I am really looking forward to helping shape the future of this important institution.”

Located on Pembroke Street in Oxford, the Story Museum was founded in 2003 and is dedicated to the celebration of stories in all their forms.

It reopened in 2020 after undergoing a £6m redevelopment that saw the installation of new immersive galleries and spaces for interactive activities and theatre performances.
