The weekend’s theft of an 18-carat gold toilet that was on display at Blenheim Palace as part of an exhibition by artist Maurizio Cattelan has attracted worldwide media interest.
Two men have been arrested since the exhibit was wrenched from the wall of the stately home - the former residence of Winston Churchill - in the early hours of Saturday morning. One has since been released on bail. The artwork, an operational toilet which is titled America and valued at £4.8m, has not yet been recovered.
Police believe a gang of thieves using at least two vehicles was responsible for the burglary.
