Poland: A museum that tells the 1,000-year history of Jewish life in Poland was inaugurated in October in Warsaw. The Polin Museum of the History of Polish Jews, which houses centuries-old manuscripts, a replica synagogue and Holocaust exhibits, is based in the former Warsaw ghetto. The building, which cost €42.5m, was part funded by the city of Warsaw.

US: The future of the collection of the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) appears to be secure after the bankrupt city of Detroit reached a settlement with its largest holdout creditor, the Financial Guaranty Insurance Company. The DIA will relaunch as an independent non-profit organisation.
US: The Miami-based collector Gary Nader has revealed his plans for a Latin American Art Museum, which is due to open in the city in early 2016. The $50m museum, to be designed by Mexican architect Fernando Romero, will house 600 works from Nader’s collection. Nader also plans to build 300 residential units on the museum site.
