The International Council of Museums (Icom) has appointed Anne-Catherine Robert-Hauglustaine to the role of director general. She will take up the role on 1 May 2014.

Robert-Hauglustaine is currently the deputy director of the Jardin des Sciences of the University of Strasbourg in France and vice-president of the European Science Event Association. She is also serving as treasurer of Icom, a role that she will step down from on 30 April. A new treasurer will be appointed in April.

She said: “The management of human and financial resources at the general secretariat and the implementation of Icom’s 2014-2016 strategic plan shall be priority areas for my work as director general over the next three years.”

Robert-Hauglustaine takes over from acting director general Hanna Pennock who was appointed following the dismissal of previous director general Julien Anfruns in April this year.
