HLF to offer £3m a year to local heritage projects
The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has launched a fund for community groups that want to discover and share their local heritage.
Sharing Heritage will provide funding of about £3m a year to a range of projects across the UK, from local archaeology to researching communities’ cultures.
Carole Souter, chief executive of HLF, said: “Heritage means such different things to different people, and this investment will offer a wealth of opportunities for groups to explore and celebrate what’s important to them in their local area.”
The ongoing funding builds on HLF’s community heritage programme, All Our Stories, which was four times oversubscribed, and awarded a total of £4.5m to nearly 550 projects.
