Barnet Council is to auction items from the collection of the Church Farmhouse Museum in Hendon following its closure last year.
Many items previously on display in the museum have been found homes with other services, including Barnet Museum. The council has also retained items of local importance in its achieves at Hendon Library.
But the rest of the collection, valued at about £25,000, is due to be sold at auction this month.
A council spokesman said: “Some of the collection is due to be auctioned next month with the intention that the proceeds be used to help support and develop heritage work and the future use of items retained by the council.
“Items being sent to auction include everyday items used to dress the house that were not of unique local or regional importance, such as furniture, domestic implements, ornaments, pictures and clothing.”
The council withdrew funding for the museum last April and made staff redundant as part of its budget cuts.
The Grade-II* listed property is to be sold on the open market under the guidance of English Heritage and Middlesex University.
