Arts Council England (ACE) has confirmed the individual allocations of transitional funding for 24 former hub museums that missed out on Renaissance major funding.
Individual allocations from a total of £8m of transitional funding were negotiated on a case-by-case basis. The money is intended to support the museums to adapt the way they work and explore alternative sources of support.
The London Transport Museum received the largest allocation (£597,004), followed by Museums Sheffield (£531,000) and the Geffrye Museum in London (£523,500).
The recipients of the smallest allocations were Bradford Museums & Galleries (£145,000), Northampton Borough Council (£119,100) and Warwickshire Museum Service (£118,024).
The other funding allocations were: Colchester and Ipswich Museum Service (£434,399); Museums Luton (£426,279); Derby Museums (£394,500); Hull City Council (£392,500); Hampshire County Council (£383,000); Nottingham Museums and Galleries (£381,000); Herbert Art Gallery & Museum (£352,755); Stoke Museums (£344,608); Leicester City Council (£351,500): Lincolnshire County Council (£335,000); Historic Dockyard Chatham (£319,129); Leicestershire County Council (£293,309); Wolverhampton Arts and Museums Service (£275,144); Royal Cornwall Museum (£250,112); Bolton Museums (£234,323); Harris Museum & Art Gallery (£229,207); Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum (£169,807); and Museum of Hartlepool (£154,419).
ACE also published a breakdown of its £62.6m Renaissance funding to major partner museums. The Manchester Partnership received the most (£5.2m), followed by Birmingham Museums Trust (£5.1m). Leeds Museums & Galleries and Bristol City Council received £5.05m and £5.04m respectively.
The other allocations were: Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums (£4.9m); Oxford University Museums and Oxfordshire County Museums Service (£4.5m); University of Cambridge Museums (£4.4m); Norfolk Museums & Archaeology Service (£3.9m); Museum of London (£3.7m); York Museums Trust (£3.5); Royal Albert Memorial Museum, Exeter and Plymouth City Museum & Art Gallery (£3.5m); Cumbria Museums Consortium (£3.2m); Horniman Museum & Gardens (£3.1m); Royal Pavilion & Museums Foundation, Brighton & Hove (£2.5m); Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust (£2.4m); and Beamish and Bowes Museum (£2.2m).
