Moray secures loans
The Moray Art Centre has secured loans from three major museums for an exhibition of medieval and Renaissance art. Nameless: Anonymous Drawings from Medieval and Renaissance Italy, which runs at the north-east Scotland venue until 22 August, features works from the British Museum, the Courtauld Gallery and the National Galleries of Scotland.
Armitt Collection reopens
The Armitt Collection has reopened after being damaged by the floods that hit the Lake District in November. It had been feared that the museum would have insufficient funds to reopen, but more than £20,000 was raised following an appeal. The Ambleside museum’s collection includes more than 450 watercolours donated by Beatrix Potter.
Titian work tours Scotland
Titian’s Diana and Actaeon (left), which was bought for the nation for £50m last year, begins a tour of Scotland this month. The painting will go on display at Aberdeen Art Gallery (29 May-27 June), Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum (1 July-1 August) and the recently reopened McManus in Dundee (6 August-5 September). The painting is owned by the National Galleries of Scotland and the National Gallery, London.
Museums at Night thrives
More than 260 museums and galleries have registered to take part in after-hours activities for Museums at Night 2010. The event, organised by Culture 24 and supported by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council, takes place on 14-16 May. Museums at Night replaced Museums and Galleries Month last year.
