Art Fund unveils collecting survey
The Art Fund has launched a survey focusing on museum collecting since 2005. It will concentrate on sources of funding, the most significant objects acquired, why certain items were not saved and patterns of collecting.
Curators and managerial staff have until 5 March to complete the online survey. Results will be published in the spring. The data will supplement the Art Fund’s 2006 project, the Collecting Challenge, which examined collecting between 2000 and 2005.
Art Fund director Stephen Deuchar said: “This research should be invaluable in helping to raise the profile of important issues affecting the museum sector, and is particularly timely given the upcoming election.”
