The Home Office has invited Peter Armstrong, development director of the Royal Armouries museum in Leeds, to join a steering group responsible for developing content for a new anti-knife crime website.
The online resource, entitled It Doesn't Have to Happen Here, provides advice and ideas for supporters campaigning against knife crime.
"[The move] shows that museums in general can have a significant impact on issues today and that our collections can be used in socially relevant ways," said Armstrong. "All it takes is for us to start looking beyond the conventional view of what a museum's role should be."
