A plan to develop a museum along Hadrian's Wall in Cumbria moved forward last month with the purchase of a 150-acre site in Curmbria.
The £11.5m project is being developed by Hadrian's Wall Heritage, a not-for-profit company set up in 2006 to manage and promote the World Heritage Site.
Hadrian's Wall Heritage bought the land for an undisclosed sum from a couple who had farmed it for the past 60 years. The museum is expected to open in 2012 and is expected to employ at least 20 staff.
Hadrian's Wall Heritage spokesman Tom Higgins said the next stage is to seek funding from bodies such as the Heritage Lottery Fund.
