Titian funding boost
The National Heritage Memorial Fund, the UK's fund of last resort for saving heritage at risk, has given £10m to the National Galleries of Scotland and the National Gallery to help acquire Titian's Diana and Actaeon. A grant of £1m was awarded by the Art Fund last month. The deadline to raise the £50m needed to secure the purchase is 31 December.
Vatican in Parthenon loan
The Vatican is loaning a fragment of the Parthenon sculptures to Greece for a year. The piece, dating from between 445 and 438 BC, will go on show in the Acropolis Museum in Athens, which is scheduled to open next year. The fragment is one of three in the Vatican's collection.
Cultural awards
The government-funded Cultural Leadership Programme has awarded more than £200,000 to four partnership projects as part of its Meeting the Challenge: Development Programme initiative.

A new organisation called the Cogges Community Enterprise Group is set to run Cogges Manor Farm Museum in Witney, Oxfordshire. Fears that Oxfordshire County Council would close the museum to plug a funding shortage led to a public outcry. The council's project board has recommended that a new charitable trust should work with the community group.
