Follett takes Hodge role
Barbara Follett, the MP for Stevenage, has taken over as minister for culture, creative industries and tourism from Margaret Hodge. Follett was private secretary to Tessa Jowell when Jowell was secretary of state for culture. She lists her interests as Scrabble, photography and Star Trek.
MoL rebrands
As part of a rebrand, the Museum of London has renamed its branch organisations Museum of London Docklands and Museum of London Archaeology. The museum also has a new logo, created by agency Coley Porter Bell.
Free Welsh pass
Welsh residents aged under 17 or over 60 can apply for a pass offering free admission to heritage sites run by Cadw, the historic environment service of the Welsh Assembly Government. Caerleon Roman Fortress Baths in south Wales is also now free to all visitors.
Human remains inquest
English Heritage and the National Trust have launched a joint consultation into the future of prehistoric human remains in the Alexander Keiller Museum that were excavated from sites around Avebury and Wiltshire. The move follows a request by the Council of British Druid Orders to rebury the remains.
Art Fund incentive
The Art Fund is offering £75,000 for up to 15 curators to purchase a piece of their choice at Collect 2009. The international contemporary craft fair will take place in London at the Saatchi Gallery in May 2009. For more information email Sarah Philp at sphilp@artfund.org
