Supporters of plans to open a National Brewery Museum have been given until the end of the year to raise funds.
The Coors Visitor Centre in Burton-on-Trent, formerly known as the Bass Museum, shut down in June after Coors pulled its funding because of poor visitor numbers.
However, Coors has pledged to donate the building for a peppercorn rent and pay £100,000 a year in maintenance if any interested party can come up with a viable business plan and an initial £200,000 investment. Backing for a national museum has come from local MP Janet Dean and the Campaign for Real Ale.
A Coors spokeswoman said several interested parties had come forward. "Discussions are at a very early stage," she added.
