Inquiries into potential irregularities at the Royal Armouries Museum are on hold as Paul Evans, the master chief executive, has been signed off sick.
A spokesman for the museum said: "Paul Evans has been signed off sick and is not well enough to attend formal hearings. That limits the speed of the inquiry. He is still officially suspended and on full salary. We can't schedule hearings until we know he will be available.
"The police are not involved and we are not looking at anything criminal. These are procedural issues that raised questions, and when we get an answer to those questions, we may see Paul return to work.
"There are no dates going forward that we are aiming for, but we hope to get this sorted in the next three weeks or so. It is in nobody's interest to let this drag on."
