The City of Edinburgh Council has teamed up with the Glasgow Women’s Library to tour a contemporary art exhibition around Scotland in a bus.
The Travelling Gallery will feature sculpture, writing and installations from Lauren Printy Currie. The exhibition tour, which will begin on 17 August at Glasgow Women's Library, is based on a recent residency that the Glasgow-based artist did at the library.
“The artist has had the incredible opportunity to explore the rich resources and archive the library has to offer and produce an engaging and thought-provoking exhibition for the Travelling Gallery,” said Claire Craig, the curator of the Travelling Gallery. “We can’t wait to see our audience respond and engage with the exhibition and archives.”
The tour will include visits to Edinburgh, the Highlands, Orkney, Dumfries and Galloway, Renfrewshire and Dundee, among other places.
Edinburgh’s Travelling Gallery was created in 1978 by the Scottish Arts Council to bring contemporary art to communities throughout Scotland. The City of Edinburgh Council took over the running of the gallery in 1997.
The exhibition and gallery is supported by Outset Scotland, the Heritage Lottery Fund, Creative Scotland and the City of Edinburgh Council.
