Will Gompertz, the artistic director at the Barbican, London, will become the Deborah Loeb Brice director of London’s Sir John Soane’s Museum on 1 January 2024. He replaces Bruce Boucher, who is retiring.

Kettle’s Yard in Cambridge has appointed Inga Fraser as senior curator, house and collection. She was formerly the curator of collections and interiors at English Heritage. Rob Cawston, a former head of digital at National Museums Scotland, has become director of digital and service transformation at the National Library of Scotland in Edinburgh.

The London Transport Museum has appointed Elizabeth McKay as director and chief executive. She has spent the past five years as the museum’s chief operating officer and deputy director. Mark Bills has left his role of director of Gainsborough’s House in Sudbury, Suffolk, to begin a research project into Victorian art.

The Welsh government has recruited Hannah Sweetapple as museum adviser. She joins from the Egypt Centre at Swansea University.

The Museum of London has appointed Jennifer Francis as director of external affairs. Francis has spent the past three years as director of brand and marketing at Grounds For Sculpture in Hamilton, New Jersey, US.

Journalist, author and former MP Chris Mullin is the new chair of Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums’ strategic board. Mullin was chair of the Heritage Lottery Fund for the North East of England from 2012 to 2017.
