Ian Goodyear has been appointed managing director of the Scottish Fisheries Museum in Fife. Goodyear, who was the museum’s director of operations and finance, will be the first managing director since the nationally recognised heritage collection and visitor attraction opened in 1969.

Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust has appointed Nick Ball to the new role of collections, galleries and interpretation manager. Ball joins from the National Museum of the Royal Navy in Portsmouth.

Madylene Beardmore has been appointed manager of Kent Mining Museum, which will open next spring at Betteshanger Country Park, Deal. Beardmore was previously the manager at Sandwich Museum.

Sadie Young, the director of the cultural organisation Timespan in the Scottish Highlands, has left to take up a new role at Leicester Print Workshop. Timespan was shortlisted for this year’s Art Fund Museum of the Year.

Melanie Lewis has left her role as executive director of enterprises and visitor experience at National Museums Liverpool to join Shakespeare North Trust as its first chief executive. She will oversee the construction of the Shakespeare North Playhouse in Liverpool.

Mark Ball has been appointed artistic director of the Southbank Centre. He will leave his role as creative director at Manchester International Festival to join the multi-arts centre in January 2022.

The National Motor Museum Trust has appointed Jon Murden as chief executive, in the run up to its 50th anniversary in 2022. Murden was previously executive director at Dorset Museum.
