The Hepworth Wakefield has appointed the design critic Alice Rawsthorn as the new chair of the museum. Rawsthorn, a former director of London’s Design Museum, takes up the role this month when the gallery’s first chair, David Liddiment, steps down after seven years.

The ss Great Britain Trust in Bristol has created two new roles. Nicola Grahamslaw has been appointed as the ship’s conservation engineer. And James Boyd joins as the Brunel history fellow in the Brunel Institute at the ss Great Britain, which houses important maritime collections and the National Brunel Collection. The five-year, fixed-term post of fellow is part-funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
