What attracted you to this post?

I was excited by the prospect of setting up a heritage centre from scratch, particularly one that will focus on social justice issues. Shire Hall will open to the public in autumn 2017, so the first 18 months will entail overseeing the capital works and interpretation of the building, developing the exhibition and events, and recruiting a team.

Why is the building so important?

It was the court where the Tolpuddle Martyrs were tried so visitors will learn about this history through the original cells and courtroom.
