Museums Galleries Scotland (MGS) has awarded 15 institutions a share of £450,000 for capital projects.
The awards range from £7,305 to £40,000, with five organisations receiving the top amount. They are:
The smallest award, £7,305, went to Grampian Transport Museum Trust for the installation of energy-efficient lighting. Energy efficiency is also on the agenda at the Scottish Maritime Museum, which will use its £14,585 grant to build an insulated roof.
Meanwhile, Arts Council England is to invest £5m of lottery funding into 14-18 Now, a first world war centenary cultural programme. It will fund commissions by artists from around the world.

- Aberdeen City Council to create effective and accessible storage for the painting collections held at Aberdeen Art Gallery and Museum.
- Fife Folk Museum Trust to purchase and install new display cases.
- Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh to make its museum entrance more accessible and welcoming.
- Renfrewshire Council to create publicly accessible storage and a study area to showcase its Paisley ceramics.
- West Dunbartonshire Council to send part of its collection for conservation work. An environmentally controlled storage area is also being constructed for the fine art collection.
