Hans-Martin Hinz has been re-elected for a second term as president of the International Council of Museums (Icom), following a vote at the organisation’s conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, last month.
The three-year presidency involves chairing an executive council of 14 members, also elected at the conference.
One of the executive council’s first tasks will be to appoint a director-general, following the dismissal of Julien Anfruns and Icom’s director for administration and finance, Lydie Spaczynski, earlier this year. Spaczynski is contesting her dismissal and has referred the case to the French employment arbitration court.
Museums Journal was unable to reach Anfruns for comment.
The next Icom general conference will take place in 2016 in Milan, Italy.
