A new round of the Fund for the Preservation of Industrial and Scientific Material (Prism) is open for applications.

The fund, which is administered by Arts Council England (ACE), awards grants to help acquire or conserve items of importance to scientific, technological or industrial heritage.

It is open to all accredited museums in England and Wales, except national organisations funded directly by government.

Single applications are for between £500 and £20,000 (except in exceptional cases), with a match funding requirement of 10%.

ACE has confirmed that the budget for the V&A Purchase Grant Fund will be £750,000 in 2013-14. The fund gave 112 grants in 2012-13, totalling nearly £885,000.

Julia Brettell has taken over the management of the fund following the retirement of Janet Davies.

ACE has also released details of a programme to provide arts experiences for older people in residential care. Projects will be carried out by partnerships led by residential care providers and arts organisations.

The arts council and the Baring Foundation have provided the £1m budget. Four proposals are expected to be funded.

The closing date is 14 August. The successful projects are expected to be announced in December.

The next round of the Federation of Museums and Art Galleries of Wales’s Small Grants Scheme is open. Awards of up to £5,000 are available for projects supporting work on access, collections and learning.

The closing date is 10 May.
