Arts Council England (ACE) has selected a consortium of organisations to deliver a fundraising development programme.

The Arts Fundraising and Philanthropy Consortium will carry out the programme, which will primarily be aimed at national portfolio organisations, but is meant to be relevant to the whole sector. The initiative is part of the £100m Catalyst scheme to build fundraising capacity in the arts.

Sector engagement will take place nationally through partnerships with art-form umbrella bodies, including museums and galleries.

Consortium partners include the Arts Marketing Association; Barbican Centre East London and City Culture Hub in partnership with Cause 4; and the Philanthropy Foundation.

Activities will include entrepreneurial and fundraising skills training, and a philanthropy and governance programme.

A programme of 12-month traineeships will aim to attract entrepreneurial fundraising talent into the sector.

ACE has also announced the first projects to be funded as part of the £7m Digital R&D programme.

The aim is to support research and development projects that use digital technology to enhance audience reach and explore new business models in the arts.

Of the eight projects, two involve museums: the Imperial War Museum and the Museum of Design in Plastics.

Funding is still available, with applications for expressions of interest being accepted until 30 December.
