The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) is to increase the amount of money available in the second and final round of its Catalyst Endowment programme from £5m to £7.5m.
The programme offers heritage organisations the chance to build a new endowment fund or develop an existing one by match funding the money that the organisation raises, up to a total of £1m.
Applicants have until 31 December to register for the programme, while the deadline for full applications is 28 February 2013. Awards will be made next May.
The first round of HLF Catalyst Endowments, which awarded £25.5m to 16 organisations, was announced in June. Among those to benefit were the Holburne Museum in Bath, which was awarded £1m, and Sir John Soane’s Museum, London, which received £2m.
The HLF is to launch two further Catalyst programmes to help heritage organisations build fundraising capacity.
The first will offer umbrella grants of £100,000-£500,000 for the development of programmes that will help several smaller organisations, possibly linked by their location or specialism, develop fundraising skills. The second programme will provide grants of £3,000-£10,000.
ACE's £7m Catalyst Arts programme is open to applications from consortia of organisations and is designed to help those with little or no experience of fundraising to build capacity.
Each consortium can apply for grants of between £60,000 and £150,000 for activity over two years. Applications must be submitted by 23 January 2013.
