Motor museum loses grant
The Aston Manor Transport Museum faces closure after Birmingham City Council axed its £43,000 annual grant from 2010-11. Unlimited secures £3m
Unlimited, the programme of arts, culture and sport by disabled and deaf people that is part of the 2012 Cultural Olympiad, has secured £3m in funding. Most of the money is from the Olympic Lottery Distributor, with Arts Council England, the British Council, Arts Council of Wales, Scottish Arts Council, Arts Council of Northern Ireland and London 2012 contributing.
Bletchley wins HLF cash
Bletchley Park, the home of the second world war code-breakers, has won £460,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The money will pay for consultants to draw up plans for the 26-acre site, which will be submitted to the fund as an application for a £4.1m grant towards restoration work. Bletchley needs £10m to repair buildings, improve visitor facilities and expand its educational programme, but was refused government funds in May.
New owner for Explosion
The future of Explosion The Museum of Naval Firepower has been ensured following a change of ownership. Gosport council has passed control to Portsmouth Naval Base Property Trust, which already owns and manages Action Stations at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. The two sites will be linked by a waterbus service next year.
