The first grants for museums to take on creative apprentices have been announced by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA).
The £500,000 scheme aims to provide a vocational award that is assessed in the workplace. The MLA will provide £5,000 for each year of the apprentice's employment.
Museums that have secured funding include Tate; the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; the Apsley Paper Trail Museum, Hemel Hempstead; and Dunster Castle in Minehead.
The Creative Apprenticeship scheme has been developed by Creative & Cultural Skills and will fund 50 apprentices over two years.
The applications deadline for the next round of funding is 20 November.
