English Heritage has reached agreement on the location of its proposed £25m visitor centre at Stonehenge.
Backed by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, as well as the National Trust, the South West of England Regional Development Agency, South West Tourism and the Council for British Archaeology, English Heritage proposes to site the development at Airman's Corner, on the junction of the A344 and A360.
It is hoped that the centre will house educational and interpretation facilities. A planning application for the centre will be submitted later this summer, with a further public consultation on the scheme.
