Skeletons: London's Buried Bones, Wellcome Collection, London

Skeletons is made up of a loan from the Museum of London's collection of 17,000 skeletons from building sites around the capital. This exhibition will show 26 of them, some dating back to the Roman era. Included is information about their health and social circumstances, plus a detailed bone analysis.
French Connection Friday Late: Village Fete, Victoria and Albert Museum, London

The museum's ninth annual alternative village fete in the John Madejski Garden showcases the best in contemporary design. Presented in conjunction with Scarlet Projects, there
will be a chance to customise shoes with Pimp my Plimsolls, and stalls by designers from French Connection to Tatty Devine and Rob Ryan.
Pedals to Petrol: The Evolution of the Motorcycle 1900-1930, Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum

JE Smith of Gloucester attached a motor unit to a bicycle in 1910, marking the first stage in the development of the motorbike. Original machines, including a Triumph, Invicta and Ariel, and archive film tell the story of the development of the first bikes and what it was like to ride them.

More than 50 exhibitions take place during the month, with most participating galleries presenting new shows. Among them are a retrospective of Tracey Emin at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, an exhibition of Andrew Grassie paintings at the Talbot Rice Gallery and works by Kay Rosen and Susan Collis at new the Ingleby Gallery.
