A permanent gallery covering war, emigration, industry, politics and entertainment opens at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh this month.
Scotland: A Changing Nation looks at the country's history from the first world war to the present day. It includes accounts from more than 25 personalities and ordinary people that are designed to give context to the gallery's themes and artefacts.
The gallery includes items such as Irn Bru artwork in Russian and Arabic, and etchings depicting life on the oil rigs.
The new gallery is part of the transformation of the National Museum of Scotland. Part of the building closed in April for a three-year refurbishment costing £46.4m. Almost half of the building is closed while work continues.
