The Museums Association's Diversify programme to improve workforce diversity has been boosted by a £180,000 funding injection from the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA).

Diversify makes museum careers more accessible for people from African, Asian and minority ethnic groups by providing financial support for museum studies courses and on-the-job training.

The new money, which comes through the Renaissance in the Regions programme, will allow the MA to offer bursaries for non-hub museums for the first time.

"This extra money comes at a fantastic time for Diversify, which is now in its 10th year, as it will allow us to expand the scheme to even more people," said Caitlin Griffiths, the MA's head of professional issues.
