Museum hopeful over revised extension plans
The Holburne Museum of Art in Bath hopes to hear this month whether a revised planning application for an extension has been successful.

Bath and North-East Somerset council refused the original £10m scheme planning consent in July (Museums Journal, September 2007, p9). The new application reduces the height of the extension and replaces its blue ceramic tiles with a colour that is similar to Bath stone.

Although there have been several local objections to the extension, the museum's director, Alexander Sturgis, said the majority of residents support the project.

The Heritage Lottery Fund, which has earmarked nearly £4.9m for the project, has extended the deadline by which the museum must secure planning permission.
