The National Trust for Scotland (NTS) has begun a strategic review, which will focus on its governance and long-term financial stability.
It will be led by former presiding officer of the Scottish parliament George Reid, who will consult staff and the trust’s 310,000 members.
He has promised a transparent process, posting the results of his progress on the NTS website each month.
A spokeswoman said the review would be discussed at the trust’s council meeting next June.
Any necessary action would be taken to the NTS’s annual general meeting in September.
