France: The director of the Louvre will step down in April. Henri Loyrette leaves the Paris museum after 12 years in the post. During his tenure, he oversaw the launch last December of the €150m outpost in Lens. The Louvre’s keeper of paintings, Vincent Pomarède, is a possible successor.

South Korea: paintings and decorative art objects from the collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Philadelphia Museum of Art and Chicago-based Terra Foundation for American Art have gone on display in the Art Across America exhibition at the National Museum of Korea in Seoul (until 1 September). In exchange, the Art of the Joseon Dynasty show will travel from South Korea to the US next year.
UAE: The 11th edition of the Sharjah Biennial launches this month, with works on show by about 100 artists including Simon Fujiwara, Haroon Mirza, Yang Fudong and Shahzia Sikander. New exhibition spaces measuring 1,900sq m in total will open in the Sharjah Heritage Area, a cluster of former Emirati family homes dotted with courtyards and rooftop terraces. The biennial runs from 13 March until 13 May.
US: The Miami-based collectors Dennis and Debra Scholl have donated almost 300 works to the Pérez Art Museum Miami. The works, by artists such as John Baldessari, Vito Acconci and Catherine Opie, date from the 1960s to the present day. In December, the museum will open a $220m building designed by Herzog & de Meuron, located in the city’s Museum Park.
US: The $185m Perot Museum of Nature and Science opened last month in Dallas. The museum encompasses 11 exhibition halls across five floors, with displays on Texan ecosystems and geothermal energy. The collection incorporates exhibits from the Dallas Museum of Natural History and the Dallas Children’s Museum.
